"All About A Boy" event raises funds for Forgotten Children
January 11, 2010 - Fill Martino of Rogers TV recently hosted the fourth "All About a Boy" fundraiser for cbm Canada in Newmarket.
Over $2,000 was raised for cbm’s Forgotten Child Sponsorship program which rescues children with disabilities who struggle to survive poverty in the poorest countries of the world.
A silent auction was held with prizes donated by generous local businesses to raise funds for the cause.
Fil has travelled with cbm Canada to Africa to visit cbm’s projects. Her heart was touched by a little boy called Dokolem, who had casts on both legs because he had bilateral club feet.
When Fil returned to Canada, she raised enough money at the first “All About a Boy” event for cbm to provide the required surgery for Dokolem to get up on his feet.
Fil also raised enough funds to sponsor orthopaedic treatment for 16 other physically challenged children in Africa. Dokolem is just one of hundreds of children in Africa whose lives are changed because of generous Canadians. They are lifted out of poverty and given a chance to have an education and a future.
