This study explored the impact of inclusion on learning support students in a middle school setting. The major research question in this study related to the impact inclusion models of instruction have on the standardized test scores of students with a specific learning disability. The inclusion of special education students in general education settings has been a controversial issue for some time now. This study was important because more special education students are being included in these classes as a result of No Child Left Behind. Data pertaining to 27 current 7th and 8th grade students was obtained over a 2 year period of time, using the Single-Group Interrupted Time-Series design. Age, attendance, math and reading grade equivalence along with percentage of time students were exposed to a general education curriculum were analyzed using the Pearson Correlation to determine if there was a correlation between those variables and scores on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment. A positive correlation was determined to exist between test scores of learning support students and the percentage of time they were exposed to an educational placement with their non-disabled peers. Data pertaining to age and attendance did not reveal a significant correlation. The results of this study have provided implications for positive social change in that students with disabilities should be provided more opportunities to be included with their non-disabled peers in K-12 school environments; their inclusion has the potential to increase student achievement....
