One child from the many you are helping like Zawadii

As a cbm Forgotten Child Sponsor, you are helping many children. Each year one child will be chosen to represent them all, like Zawadii.

Her cleft lip and palate meant her childhood was filled with heartbreaking scorn. People looked at her with horror and called her a monster. Parents warned their children not to play with Zawadii, fearing her condition might be infectious. As well as breaking her heart, Zawadii’s disability sapped her strength: it is very difficult for a child with cleft palate to feed properly and therefore get the nutrients needed to fight illness.

Thanks to generosity like yours, Zawadii was found by cbm’s partners in a remote village in Tanzania. She received the surgery that her parents could never afford on their own. Her disfigurement has become a lovely smile on a beautiful face. Zawadii will never be called a monster ever again.
